June Mann Averyt of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on April 30, 2016, at the age of 62. Averyt grew up in Marianna, Ark. and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater. She received a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia and a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania. Averyt founded two homeless non-profit agencies, Door of Hope (doorofhopememphis.org) and Outreach Housing and Community Inc. (ohcinc.org) that continue to thrive today.   Averyt was preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Greenlaw Mann of Marianna, Ark. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Murray Allen McKay; mother June Beasley Mann of Memphis, Tenn., sisters, Louise Mann of Fayetteville, Ark., and Burkley (Newton) Allen of Nashville, Tenn., brother, Bill (Mary) Mann of Memphis, Tenn. and six nieces and nephews. Contributions in memory of Averyt may be sent to Outreach Housing and Community at OHC, 135 N Cleveland St., Memphis, Tenn. 38104. Services will be held at Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Memphis on Thursday, May 5 at 11 a.m.
