Frances Colene Thompason

Frances "Francie" Colene Thompson resident in Pea Ridge, Arkansas died Monday, March 7, 2016. She was born October 28, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents, Senator Clovis and Frances Bryant of Van Buren. She is survived by her husband, Sonny Thompson of Pea Ridge; one son, Clovis Hance of Bentonville; one grandson, Clovis Hance, Jr; a twin sister, Mary Douglas and brother-in-law, Larry Douglas of Springdale; one niece, Mary Frances Daut and her husband, Peter Daut of Fayetteville; one great-nephew, Henry Daut of Fayetteville. Frances was a 1964 graduate of Van Buren High School. She received a B.S.E. degree in elementary education at Arkansas Tech University, a Masters in Gifted Education, and a specialist degree in Administration from the University of Arkansas. Five of her teaching years were spent abroad with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Wurtzburg, Germany as a specialist in gifted education. She has been retired from the Bentonville School District where she served as administrator of Gifted and Talented Programs. Frances enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and her family. She was a lifetime member of the First Methodist Church. Arrangements are pending for a private graveside service in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
