Claud "Sug" Floyd Phillips, 88, of Rogers, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2016 at the Circle of Life in Bentonville. He was born July 22, 1927 in the Burkshed Community to Harlan and Lucy Lawson Phillips. He is survived by his three sons, Floyd and wife Kelly, Gary and wife Pat, Brian and wife Laura all of Rogers.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and one sister Ruby Clardy of Tulsa, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 1/2 years, Helen "Gin" Virginia Phillips, daughter, Judy Claudette, son Marty Dale, granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Phillips, and Dana Holliday; brothers, Henry, Kenneth, Carrell, and sister, Phyllis. Claud, known to all of us as "Sug", was a Godly man and a member of Rogers Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being with his church family, and camping with their group called the "Lazy Beavers". He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and horseman. Sug and Gin both attended the first Rodeo of the Ozarks and participated in numerous rodeo parades winning several trophies for their horse and buggy entries. The family will receive friends for visitation at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, Wednesday June 29 from 5-7 p.m. Services celebrating "Sug's" life will be held Thursday June 30 at 1 p.m. at Rogers Freewill Baptist Church with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. at Burkshed Cemetery in Hindsville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Circle of Life Hospice of Bentonville, Rogers Freewill Baptist Church, or Burkshed Cemetery Association.
