Billy Ray Stoppel

Billy Ray Stoppel, resident of Bentonville, Arkansas, was born May 22, 1948 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, son of Manfred Lawrence and Mary Louise (Hull) Stoppel. He departed this life Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Bentonville, Arkansas, at the age of 68 years. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and loved spending time with family. He spent over twenty years in the restaurant business in Eureka Springs, first at the Ozark Village Restaurant and then the Village Restaurant. He is survived by his children; daughter, Charice Stoppel-Laird, and son, Brandon Stoppel both of Bentonville, Arkansas. He is also survived by his sister, Venita Summers and husband, Vernon "Speed" of Berryville, Arkansas; brother, Ronnie Stoppel of Sherwood, Arkansas; brother, Dennis Stoppel of Holiday Island, Arkansas; sister, Cheryl Hattenhauer and husband, Richard, of Berryville, Arkansas; brother, David Stoppel and wife, Jackie of Berryville, Arkansas; brother Arthur Stoppel and wife, Vanessa of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Mason and Caitlyn Laird of Bentonville, Arkansas; mother, Mary Louise Stoppel and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Manfred Lawrence Stoppel and brother, Bryan Stoppel. Visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Eureka Springs, Arkansas under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
