Joyce Evelyn Eiland Jaggers passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 1:19 a.m. in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born in Gurdon, Arkansas on November 4, 1921. Her residence the last 27 years of life was in Fort Smith, Ark. which she shared with her husband of 64 years, Clyde W Jaggers. She graduated from high school at Jonesboro/Hodge High School in Jonesboro, LA. She attended Louisiana Tech and she obtained her degree in nursing from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Little Rock, Ark. She practiced nursing in Temple, Texas and Houston, Texas where she worked at several hospitals including MD Anderson Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton G. Eiland, her mother, Eula Eiland, her two sisters, Inez Feazell and Marzell Ascol and her brother, Fred Eiland. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Haven Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She is survived by her son, Bob Jaggers, daughter in law, Joanie Jaggers and grandchildren, Cyd, Max, Alex, and Eve. Her countless words and deeds of love and encouragement will be remembered and cherished by her family and friends forever. The family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the funeral home. The Jaggers family thanks the superlatively competent and compassionate staff of the Willard Walker Hospice Home for their care.
