Modavyrl Woodward Penn's life ended peacefully January 3, 2016 at Katherine's Place in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born May 7, 1926 in Mayflower, Ark. to William Dewy and Lula Woodward. She graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College. She taught 1st thru 8th grades in Humphrey, Ar. She married Charles Willard Penn in 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Charles Willard Penn and one grandson, John Christopher Fitzgibbon. She is survived by two sisters: Robaleen Boreman & Imogene Ruffin, one brother: Bill Woodward, four daughters, Cheryl Myklebust, husband Clark, Lynette Fitzgibbon, husband John, Eyvonne Stricklin, husband Bill and Melinda Thompson, husband Jeff; nine grandchildren: Michelle Jenkins, husband Sean, Michael Major, wife DeShay, Kristin Fitzgibbon, Amanda Pope, Joshua Fitzgibbon, wife Martha, Alyson Albion, husband Joe Cline, Jennifer Mesko, Jessica Mesko and Micah Spillers; five great-grandchildren: Jordyn Major, Lauren Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, Megan Major, Anthony Cline & numerous nieces and nephews. Modavyrl was raised on a farm, lived through the Great Depression and was very resourceful. She became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the late 1950s. She lived many years of her adult life in Little Rock, Ark. There she worked as a telephone operator and then as a seamstress. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, crocheting, cooking and teaching people about the Bible. She spent much of her life helping people find answers to life's important questions in their own bible. She made many friends during the time she lived in Little Rock and also when she lived her retirement years in Donaldson, Ark. She looked forward to the future time when the Bible promises that a resurrection of the dead will take place on earth and they will be able to live in peace and happiness with perfect health. Her greatest hope was that all of her family would be there to enjoy it also. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 3042 E Emma Ave Springdale, Ark. 72764.
