Mary Cate Carter Sims

Mary Kate Carter Sims was born in Noxapater, Mississippi September 2nd, 1930 to John and Kate Carter. She passed away quietly on December 26th, 2016 in Fayetteville. Mary Kate, as she was called when she was young, met and married Robert Douglas Sims, to whom she was married 53 years. Mary was a faithful and loving wife to her adventurous and hard-working husband. After living their dream on their farm in East Texas, they moved to Butterfield Trail Village in 2001. Mary and Doug had four children and were preceded in death by their daughter, Susan Kay Sims. Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 2003. Mary is survived by Brenda Sims Ghassemi Of Plano Texas, Robyn Sims Van Zandt of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Robert Douglas Sims, Jr. of Dallas, Texas. Mary devoted her whole self to her family. She tirelessly worked to provide a beautiful environment in which her husband could provide for the family and her children could learn and experience life. Mary also loved her grandchildren, sons-in-law, and daughter in law. She is survived by her grandsons, Cameron Ghassemi, Ross Van Zandt, Jack Van Zandt, and her granddaughter Avery Sims. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Mojtaba Ghassemi of Plano, Tommy Van Zandt of Fayetteville and her daughter in law Gina Sims of Dallas. A private memorial service was held at Butterfield Trail Village, her home for the past 15 years, Wednesday, December 27th. In appreciation for her love of beauty, flowers, and friends at Butterfield, a memorial gift has been made to the Butterfield Beautification Project.
