An angel was born in Sherburne, La., on July 27, 1930, when Nancy Patricia Patrick was born. "Patsy" was an angel on Earth for 86 years who touched the lives of many and has now gained her wings in Heaven. Patsy passed away on Dec. 22, 2016, in Fayetteville, Ark., surrounded by her loving family. Patsy leaves behind a family who absolutely adored her, including her husband, Johnny L. Upton of 63 years, whom she married in Natchez, Miss., on March 5, 1954; her two sons: Jeff and Rick; two daughters-in-law: Ann and Kellie; five grandchildren: Alesha, Christopher, Spencer, Mason, and Tyler; and three great-grandchildren: Aiden, Theo and Harper. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Joseph, her sister, Sarah, and her brother, Joe. She also leaves behind three loving siblings: Florence Hammill, Henrietta Maness, and Milton Patrick; plus many other family members and friends who are too numerous to mention but whom she dearly treasured. Patsy was an incredibly kind, giving, and selfless person who always put the needs of others before her. Patsy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Louisiana College in Pineville. She dedicated her life to the Lord, her family and her patients. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark., to spend time with her grandchildren, whom she cherished. She was blessed to be loved by so many and those who were fortunate enough to know her were better for it. Patsy's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure; she is loved deeply and will be missed beyond words. She will never be forgotten, as it is hard to forget someone who gave us all so much to remember. To know Patsy was to know an angel on Earth. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, with service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. The family would love for you to join them in celebrating Patsy's life. Condolences may be given online at www.nelsonberna.com.
