Phillip Carroll Hanby, 76, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away December 3, 2016 doing what he loved most, which was spending time in the outdoors with his family at his farm. He was born March 15, 1940, in Berryville, Ark., the first son of the late Dorothy and Carroll Hanby. He graduated from Berryville High School in 1958 and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a business degree. In 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Suellen M. Hanby, and was married to her until she passed in 2011. After college, they moved to Fort Hood, Texas where Phillip served as an artillery Lieutenant in the US Army. The couple moved to Springdale, Arkansas in 1964, where they raised their two sons, Phil and Grant Hanby. Phillip owned and operated the Ozark Sash and Door Company with his brother, Pat Hanby, until he retired in 2003. Phillip's passions in life were his family and the outdoors. His favorite thing in the whole world was being altogether with his wife, two sons, two grandsons, and his daughter-in-law. Phillip loved hunting, fishing, and floating the Kings River. He constantly pursued ways to improve the land of his Fishhook Ranch for the betterment of nature. He was always surrounded by great friends he had made over the years. He enjoyed going to Neal's Cafe and laughing with his buddies every morning. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family, and was always putting others first with everything he did in life. The people who knew Phillip well would say that he was a man of deep honesty and integrity. He is survived by his brother, Pat Hanby, two sons, Phil and Grant Hanby, two grandsons, Hunter and Luke Hanby, and daughter-in-law, Madelen Hanby, all of Springdale, Ark. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Springdale on Saturday, December 10, at 10 a.m..
