Delores (Newgard) Hogrefe, 85, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her four children, following a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born July 7, 1931 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa to Allen and Doris (Miller) Newgard. After graduating from Cornell High School in 1948, she met and married Paul Davis in 1951. Together, they raised their four children, Greg, Connie, Debbi and Brian, in the Storm Lake, Iowa area before moving the family to Rogers in 1971. In 1976, she married Elmer C. Hogrefe in Storm Lake, Iowa and they lived on his farm in Albert City, Iowa before retiring to the home they built together in Storm Lake. They moved to Northwest Arkansas to be near the children in 1999. She was passionate about serving others in the health care field and worked in area hospitals as a nurse in both Iowa and Arkansas. After she retired, she continued to give of herself by working in the Adult Education Program in nursing homes and senior groups. Delores was a faithful member of the Lutheran church throughout her life and always enjoyed her church family. She loved music and was an avid reader. She treasured her family and taught her children to love each other unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; one grandson, Aaron Callaway and one sister, Janice Peterson. She is survived by her children, Gregory Davis, Brian Davis, Connie Callaway and husband, Harold and Debbie Thompson all of Northwest Arkansas; one sister, Norma Gerke and husband, Clifford of Newell, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; dear friend, Wendell Stephens of Rogers and many extended family members. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2016 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Chaplain Jim Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
