James Janisch, 93 of Sulphur Springs died August 21, 2016 at his home. He was born as Harrison Fred Janisch in Omaha, Neb., Sept. 3, 1923 to Fred M. Janisch and Irene Pettygrove Janisch. He was preceded in death by his first wife Audrey Neebe Janisch. He is survived by his wife Anna Lee Sevak Janisch of 37 years. A foster daughter Marcy and husband Harris Steele, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., one brother Fred and wife Donna Janisch, of California, two sisters Ruth Karen and husband Keith Bradley of Nebraska, and Ann Louise and husband Gerald Eller of Arizona, one brother-in-law Steve Sevak and wife Patty of Sulphur Springs, many nieces and nephews, as well as a large Spiritual family, across the country. James graduated from High School in Oxford, Neb., in Class of 1941. After working at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., and California Shipbuilding in San Pedro, Calif., he attended William Jewell College, Liberty Mo., before joining the self-supporting Christian community called Shiloh in Sherman, N.Y. At this time he became known as James Janisch, and was occupied for a time as herdsman on the community farm and later a cake decorator in the newly forming bakery. After the demise of the community's founder Rev. E. Crosby Monroe and the subsequent passing of his son and successor Pastor Raymond C. Monroe in 1962, James became the Pastor of the Shiloh Community. During that time, and under his leadership, The Community of Shiloh and all of its business interests, including Shiloh Farms, were moved in 1968 to Sulphur Springs, Ark. In 1972 the Church of Shiloh was established, Rev. John Pressnall became Rev. Janisch's associate pastor. James' passion was teaching and in teaching he shared his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the need for all mankind to know him. James deepest love was to always be searching and learning. He shared this love by helping so many people in their search for truth, hope, and a purpose for being all God created them to be. Memorial service will be held Saturday morning September third, 10 a.m. at Ramoth, 700 Lodge Dr. Sulphur Springs, Rev. Steve Sevak will be officiating. A memorial fund has been set up in honor of Rev. Janisch, all gifts will go to Circle of Life, Hospice care. Cremation arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
