Flora May Summers, 87, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday in Fort Smith. She was born April 27, 1929 in Massard, AR to the late Frank and Emma (Rogers) Thompson. She was a retired LPN from St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center after 35 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women Administrative Council, a Sunday School Teacher and a lifetime member of the Woodmen of the World. She was a member and very active in the Arkansas License Practical Nurses Association, State Board of Nursing, Association of Cancer Care and Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Manning L. "Buck" Summers. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. She is survived by two daughters Brenda J. Smith of Greenwood and Karen "Sam" Clark-Briscoe and husband Rick of Springdale and her granddaughter Mary Katherine Smith of Lawrence, Kan. Pallbearers will be Deon Rollans, David Humphrey, Richard Nixon, Charlie Toon, Carroll Abbott and Perry Malone. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
