Alice Artishia Russell Edens

Alice Artishia (Tishie) Russell Edens, 91, of Lowell, Ark., died peacefully in her sleep on August 21, 2016 at her home in Lowell with family at her side. Born April 22, 1925 in Rotan, Texas, she is preceded by her parents, William Andrew Russell and Nora Leta Gordon Russell, and her husband, Chester Arthur Edens; two brothers, Truman Russell and William Russell; and a sister, Irene Harrison. Tishie was a homemaker and married to the love of her life for 67 years. She and Chester loved to travel and spent many wonderful vacations in Hawaii, Alaska, most other states in the U.S., and also abroad. Tishie, known to have a green thumb, loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers. Her other passions were quilting and photography (she was never without her camera!). Chester and Tishie were long time members of the Pleasant Street Church of Christ. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to babysit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While raising her own children, it was not uncommon to take in others who were in need. Tishie was very giving, kind, and always had an extra plate on the table. Tishie is survived by one sister, Loreta Hoskins and husband Russell of St. Paul, Ark.; two sons, Jerry Edens and wife Maxine of New Caney, Texas, and Eddie Edens of Lowell, Ark.; two daughers, Barbara Spier and husband Delmar of Hempstead, Texas, and Beverly McKenna and husband Michael of Savannah, Ga.; grandsons, Jon Edens, Joe (Bert) Edens, Christopher Edens, Darren Tupper, Travis Tupper, Patrick McKenna, James McKenna and Jeremy Edens; granddaughters, Holli DeClemete, Katy Glover and Cassandra Burns; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 fro 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Larry Branum officiationg.
