Robert Frederick Dunk

Robert Frederick Dunk, 90, of Springdale went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 18, 2016. He was born January 10, 1926 in Mulberry, Indiana to Ellis and Opal (Dryer) Dunk. After graduating high school in May, 1944, Robert enlisted in the Army. He served in the 44th Infantry in Europe during World War II. He received several medals, including one for marksmanship during his service. The Dunks were a farm family and in 1968 they were recognized as the Faulkner County Farm Family of the Year. Robert was one of the first farmers in Faulkner County to build a commercial egg hatching operation. He served on the Board of Directors of the County Farm Bureau for many years. His interest in antique tractors resulted in him joining the John Deere Tractor Club of Farmington. Robert was known as Bob, Papa and Pops to those who loved him. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Nicodemus Community Church in Siloam Springs. One of his favorite pastimes was to make people laugh. He would often say "I'm going to leave them laughing." He will always be remembered for his wit, stories and jokes. Mr. Dunk is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles Gordon Dunk and Donald Lee Dunk. Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Kenneth Wayne Dunk and his wife, Rose of Springdale; Frederick Allen Dunk of Farmington; Lee Edward Dunk and his wife, Debbie of Tontitown; Carol Elaine Bousum and her husband, Marty of Greenwood; Denise Ann Marshall and her husband, Tom of Bella Vista; his love, Doris Fields of Osage Beach, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Westfield Chapel. Interment with military honors will be at 12 p.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
