Lucille Storey Lillard

Lucille Storey Lillard, 92, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Aug. 17, 2016, at Legacy Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonville. She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Newbern, Iowa, to Edgar Newell Bearden and Elsie Mason Bearden. In Chariton, Iowa, Lucille graduated from High School, attended Jr. College, and worked in banking before marrying Joseph A. Storey in 1945. For many years she was an Air Force Officer's wife, stationed many places in the U.S. and Clark Field in the Philippines. In all of the places she lived, she was active in church, school, scouting and community affairs. She moved to Rogers, Ark., in 1962. She was an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she sang in the choir and served in many capacities, including church secretary. She worked as secretary to Superintendent Greer Lingle of Rogers Public Schools for ten years and held various positions at the F&M Bank. Lucille had many accomplishments including helping to develop lake properties at Table Rock Lake and Beaver Lake. Vista Shores, east of Garfield, was developed in 1968. Lucille brought joy to all with her welcoming disposition and beautiful smile! She married Ervin Dexter Lillard Aug. 15, 1985, in Rogers, Ark. They enjoyed traveling, golfing and many other activities before his death Dec. 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Galen M. Bearden; three sisters, Wilma Bearden, Carol Bearden and Ellen Bearden Sharp. Survivors include son, Robert Storey and wife, Sue; daughter, Linda Meier and husband, Dave and daughter, Suzanne Ellington and husband, Ron, all of Rogers. Grandchildren include Bryce Storey (Angie West), Paige Storey, Tricia Meier, Cheryl Hall Click (Steve), Chris Meier, Elizabeth Hall, Rick Ellington (Heather), Laura Ellington Jeffcoat (Mike), Alicia Hopkins Brooks (Steve), Mark Ellington, Natalie Ellington, and Megan Ellington McClain (Bryce). She also had 11 great-grandchildren and one nephew, Richard Sharp (Amy) of Boston, Mass. Services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at 11a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 13th and Oak, Rogers, Ark.
