Larry Medlock, 80, of Alma, Ark. passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 in a local Hospice. He was born June 19, 1936 in Russellville, Ark. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Mason and an Elder in the Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith, a graduate of the Commonwealth College of Sciences of Houston, Texas. A graduate of Southern College of Optometry-Optometric Technician Program and worked with his wife Dr. Jean M. Medlock as an Optometric Technician for 44 Years. In 1990, he was also voted National Optometric Technician of the year. He loved to RV travel with the Ozark Ridge Runner friends and was a talented wood carver. He assisted coaching girl's softball teams in Alma for about 10 years. He also worked for Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren and Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Barbara (Muller) Medlock. Memorial Service will be graveside at 12 Noon Tuesday, August 23, 2016 with Military Honors at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark. under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Ark. He is survived by his wife Dr. Jean M. Medlock of the home, they were married for 50 years June 5, 1966; a sister Sandra Holcomb of Harrisburg, Va.; a niece Lydia Jalagonia of Fredricksburg, Va.
