Elsie Irene Harris

Elsie "Irene" Harris, age 82, of Lowell, passed away Aug. 18, 2016, at her home after a 10-plus year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Shell Knob, Mo., on April 2, 1934, to the late Abie and Mary Frances (Cooper) Shrum. On July 3, 1955, she married Jackie Clarence Harris and they were married 59 years at the time of his death in 2015. She retired from Emerson Electric after 30-plus years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, canning and her family. Survivors include her sons, Eddie Harris of Avoca, Jackie Gail Harris and wife, Jenny of Rogers; daughters, Vickie Miller and husband, Jeff of Springdale, Linda Mars and husband, Steve of Lowell; daughter-in-law, Carol Harris of Winslow; brother, Fred Shrum of Oregon; sisters, Mildred Myers and Willa Dean Shrum of Purdy, Mo., Sue Brown of Cassville, Mo., JoAnne Robbins of Jenkins, Mo.; grandchildren, Shavonne Mars, Aaron Harris, Jeromie Harris, Joe Harris, Anthony Mars, Jr., Jason Harris, Elizabeth Miller, Dusty Harris, Kynzee Miller, Kamie Harris; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Cortney, Dixie, Avalon and Alucard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackie Clarence Harris; a son, Jerry Harris; and a brother, Leroy Shrum. Visitation will be 1-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, with services beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Chuck Bengtson. Burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72764.
