Lorace "Lori" Marie Krol-Backenstose

Lorace "Lori" Krol-Backenstose, 92, of Bella Vista passed away Sunday, August 14. She was born to the late Jewell and Harold Pitt on September 28, 1923 in Oklahoma City. Following graduation from Capitol Hill High School and William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, she began her career as bookkeeper, devoted wife and mother in Northwest Indiana. Upon their retirement in 1978 they moved to Northwest Arkansas. For more than 35 years she was the loving wife of John Krol who preceded her. Later, she was the wife of Robert Backenstose, who preceded her. She was an active volunteer throughout her life including St. Joseph the Worker PTA, American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Post 207, in Gary, Ind. NWACC, Bella Vista television, St. Mary's Hospital, Hospice, Bella Vista Women's Chorus and the Bella Vista United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed many years of world travel with her dear friend, Beverly Cramer. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Pitt (Nedra) and her daughter, Joanne Petruccelli. Survivors include her son, Robert Krol (Gail) and her daughter, Mary Beth Young (Lee) all of Bella Vista; six grandchildren, Micah and Emily Krol of Bella Vista, Lauren Pierce (Ryan) of Illinois, Jessica Dixon (Paul) of North Carolina and Jon Young of Bella Vista. A great-grandson, Wyatt Pierce, two nieces, Rene' Cole (Ronald) of Texas and Suzy Smith (Travis) of Oklahoma and many dear friends. Services will be Friday, August 19 at Bella Vista United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Rd. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with the Funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Rogers. Memorials are suggested to The Brookfield Assisted Living in Bella Vista. Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
