Madge Borum Garrison, 99, a lifelong resident of Arkansas, was one of the first realtor's of Cooper Communities at Cherokee Village in the mid 1950's. She retired from real estate in 1981, moving to Bella Vista to manage a gift shop for her sister, Mildred B. Cooper. After that shop closed, she opened her own gift shop for several years in the Bella Vista Town Center. She was born December 9, 1916 in Earle, Ark. to John Clarence and May Belle Woody Borum and passed away August 5, 2016 at her residence in Rogers, Ark. Madge loved to go to "market" and see all the "stuff." As a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, she was very active in the church's annual Bazaar. Madge was "crafty" to say the least. Her hat collection was legendary. As a realtor, she helped thousands of families to find their homes in Cherokee Village. As "Aunt Madge" she affected the lives of all the cousins, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She taught all of us great lessons for life: truth, honesty, dignity, perseverance and humility. She was the model for how to live your life, believing in a hard work ethic and treating people as you want to be treated. She is preceded in death by one son, Ray L. Garrison Jr.; her parents and seven siblings. Madge is survived by one son, Gerald R. Garrison and wife Lenice of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Blanch Phillips of Natchez, Miss.; six grandchildren, Deana Dearry of Milwaukee, Wisd., Gloria Spalter and husband, Ron of Cave Springs, Ark., Randy Garrison and wife, Laura of Rogers, Ark., Lisa Nicholas and husband, John of Pea Ridge, Ark., Amanda Gilmore and husband, Marion of Little Rock, Ark. and Carrie Garrison of Chicago, Ill.; and five great-grandchildren, Spencer Garrison, Thomas Spalter, Garrison Lira, Allison Boggs and Garrison Gilmore. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Mildred B. Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista. A place dedicated to her beloved sister. Memorials may be made to the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in honor of Madge. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. Online condolences may be made to stockdalefuneral.com.
