Bianca Maria Thornton

Bianca Maria (Whitacre) Thornton, age 68 of Bentonville, Ark., died Friday, July 29, 2016, in St. Louis, Mo. Born to parents George S. and Bianca M. Whitacre in Winchester, Va., Bianca grew up in Frederick County, Va., graduated from James Wood High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Bianca is survived by her husband of 44 years, J.L. (Jim) Thornton Jr. of Bentonville and one son, Kristian S. Thornton of Fayetteville. Survivors also include her siblings, John G. Whitacre (Theresa) and Daniel E Whitacre (Sherry) of Winchester, Va., Barbara W. Dunkin of Fredericksburg, Va., and nieces and nephews. Bianca was devoted to her family, her gardens and her pets. She was passionate about all three. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with them. She loved taking care of her four flower gardens. She loved anything that bloomed but her roses were her favorite. And she loved taking care of her dogs. She loved them as if they were her own children. She was a wonderful cook and really had fun being in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends. Bianca was a career administrator, working in numerous professional disciplines as she followed her husband across the country during his 21 years of service in the US Navy. After relocating one last time in Bentonville, she worked for the Walmart Home Office for 23 years and retired as a paralegal. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Bentonville, Ark. A reception will take place immediately following the service.
