Virginia Lucille Adams Stowe, 103, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Virginia was born on April 8, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois to John Francis and Mabel Mary Schott Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Blandon Stowe, and brothers John Adams and Russell "Bud" Adams. Virginia was an avid Cubs and Razorback fan. She spent 26 years working at JC Penney & Co. She headed the children's department on the Fayetteville square and moved on to payroll and accounting, finishing her career at the NWA Mall. Virginia was a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she held every office. While living in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, she traveled to Madison and petitioned the Governor to institute the first lunch program for the children. Along with her husband, she also started the PTA in Lake Delton. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Joyce Stafford of Fayetteville and Dawn DeLong of Fayetteville; son, James Stowe and his wife Gina of Fayetteville; grandchildren, William Stafford and his wife Lisa, Robert Stafford, Sarah Farnet and her husband Chris, John DeLong and his wife Patty, Mikhail DeLong and his wife Beth, Alex Harris and her husband Pat, and Adam Stowe; eight great-grandchildren, and many more friends, family, and loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Garden Room at 215 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville. Cremation was under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
