Dr. Dan Timmermann Jr., 82, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in New Braunfels, Texas, Dr. Timmermann earned a Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. He also received an officer's commission and entered active duty into the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a pilot and served three years and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Following military service, Dr. Timmermann earned a Master's degree from Ohio State University and a Doctorate from Texas A&M University. Dr. Timmermann joined the faculty of Arkansas State University in 1967 and served 26 years in the College of Biological Sciences, retiring in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dan, Sr. and Eva Dietert Timmermann; his brother, Terrell Timmermann; and his sister, Pearl Timmermann. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Bobbie Miller Timmermann of the home; one daughter and son-in-law: Valerie and Paul Beckelhimer of Siloam Springs; one son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Linda Timmermann of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren: Logan Timmermann, Lucas Timmermann, Samantha Pittman (Steven), Jessica Holloway (Brad), Kimberly Christensen (James), Stephanie Tun (Rusel), Daniel Beckelhimer, Christina Beckelhimer, David Beckelhimer and Joseph Beckelhimer; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be private.
