John Charles Heying

John Charles Heying, 77, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 9, 1938 in Alta Vista, Iowa the son of Velda Webb and Leo J. Heying. He was in education for over 40 years serving in Iowa and Arkansas from the years of 1959 until 2002. He moved to Arkansas in 1986 from Iowa. While living in Bella Vista he was a member of two golf groups; "Oldes" and "9 Holers." He drove the Courtesy Van around town for over 11 years. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus for many years. He was preceded in death by: his parents, one brother, Robert Heying, and three nephews. John is survived by: his wife; Sondra Heying, whom he married January 24, 1959, three sons; Andrew Heying and his wife Kate, of Wisconsin, Bradley Heying and his wife Juil, of Morning Sun, Iowa, Michael Heying and his wife Ronda, of Bentonville, one daughter; Jan Dorothy and her husband Doug, of Lowell, three brothers; Ed Heying and his wife Judy, of Arizona, Leon Heying and his wife Beverly, of Florida, Tom Heying, of Iowa, two sisters; Lois Vorwald and her husband Don, of Iowa, Mary Elliott and her husband Gary, of Iowa, one sister-in-law; Karen Heying, of Illinois, six grandchildren; Amy Richel and her husband Ted, of Wisconsin, Carrie Osborne and her husband Evan, of Iowa, Allison White and her husband Jason, of Washington, Andrea Heying, of Tennessee, Brody Heying, of Iowa, Eric Dorothy, of Arkansas, and six great-grandchildren; Gunnar Richel, Gavin Richel, Greta Richel, all three of Wisconsin, Natasha White, Sydney White, Jenessa White, all three of Washington. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Bentonville. The Mass will follow the visitation and begin at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Andy Heying, Brad Heying, Mike Heying, Brody Heying, Doug Dorothy, and Eric Dorothy. Interment will be at Scott Township Cemetery located in Winfield, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be sent to: The Juvenile Diabetes Association or The Bella Vista Courtesy Van.
