John Lee Coler, 69, a native and lifelong resident of Bentonville, Ark., surrounded by his loving family went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2016. Born in Bentonville on Nov. 29, 1946, to M.C. and Rachel Torell Coler. Johnny grew up loving the outdoors and all things mechanical. During high school, he would race his old green Ford truck through the deserted nighttime streets of town with his friends Gary Townsend and Fred Overstreet. His love of mechanics led to his lifelong career of being a mechanic at Burgers Chevrolet, Banks Ford, Williams Ford Tractor, and finally the City of Bentonville Street Department. Johnny loved being outside, whether it was brush hogging, cutting wood, hunting on the homeplace in Punkin Holler, fishing on Beaver Lake, or camping throughout Arkansas, especially at Parker Bottom below Beaver Dam. After retirement from the City of Bentonville, he enjoyed traveling to Gulf Shores Ala., Destin Beach, Fa., and just driving around looking at different parts of the country. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, M.C. and Rachel Torell Coler; his grandparents, Oscar and Esther Torell, Marcus and Grace Rakes Coler; and his aunt, Opal Mae Coler. Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Nora Kay Sumrall Coler; his children Debbie Davis (J.D.) of Rogers, Ark., Stephen Coler of Hanamaki, Japan, and Mandy Stolt (Tim) of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren, Chris Fletcher, Johnnie Sue Ernst (John), Tanner Stolt, and Abby Stolt; one sister, Nancy Coler Watts (Ronnie), of Little Rock, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews and his favorite dog, Maggie. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Byrum, Tammy Meek of Precious People, and Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village for their loving and wonderful care during Johnny's final days. It was the pleasure of his loving wife to take care of her sweetheart, Johnny for the past 12 years. Memorial Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Mon., April 11, 2016 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tues., April 12, 2016 at New Home Church in Bentonville with Pastor Randy Featherston officiating. Burial will be at New Home Church Cemetery at a later date.
