James E. "Jim" Allen, Sr.

James E. "Jim" Allen, Sr., 77, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Earlene Howard Hospice House in Springdale. Jim was born on Dec. 12, 1938 in Gentry, Ark., a son of Jesse Horton Allen and Blanche Ellis Allen. Jim married Betty Jo Johnson on April 12, 1996 at the Church of Christ in Colcord, Okla. Jim was long haul truck driver for many years, having retired from the Cawood Trucking Co. in Lowell, Ark. He was a member of the Colcord Church of Christ; enjoy playing the guitar, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Allen of the home; three sons: James Allen, Jr. of Neosho, Mo., Dwayne Allen of Lowell, Ark., and Dwight Allen of Miami, Okla.; three daughters: Dee Ann Meyer of Gentry, Ark., Johnetta Edwards of Tulsa, Okla., and Debbie Gurule of Southwest City, Mo.; one sister, Cathy Whipkey of Livermore, Calif.; 16 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Elvan, Kendall and Jesse Allen; two sisters, Barbara Bryant and Ozella Young; and one stepson, Bill Edwrds. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. Pastor Larry Ellis will officiate the services with burial being conducted at the Dickson Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.
