Roy J. Tunnell

Roy J. Tunnell, 91, of Bentonville, Arkansas, died Friday, September 25, 2015, surrounded by his beloved daughters, Rev. Karin Tunnéll, Debby Bowersock and Bekki Benda at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born December 22, 1923 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Roy Nelson and Myrtle Blanche Church Tunnell. He was preceded in death by sisters Theda, Thera and Phyllis. Roy graduated from Yukon High School, Yukon, Oklahoma in 1942 and served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps as a flight instructor and later was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for nearly 38 years in the Treasury Department. He married the love of his life, Leveta White Tunnell, on March 10, 1951 who preceded him in death on July 14, 2015. In addition to his daughters and their husbands, Rick Bowersock and Paul Benda; Roy is survived by his grandchildren, Megan Byers and her husband Michael, Blake Bowersock and Jessica Streller and her husband Eric; and his great-grandchildren Conner and Chandler Byers. He is also survived by a sister Joy Wilson and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at a later date.
