Loyd "Bogue" "Bo" Scalf, 88, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 in Fayetteville. He was born March 12, 1927 in Avoca, Ark., the son of James Scalf and Ruth Reed. Loyd was one of 10 brothers and sisters. He served in both the Army and Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a craftsman and contractor who built homes across the country. He began his building career in Sedona, Ariz. He built homes throughout Fayetteville, including Park Place, Boardwalk, Paradise View and Brookbury. He was a perfectionist, and his homes constructed over six decades stand as a testament to his impeccable craftsmanship. He completed his last home in 2008, when he was 78 years old. He and his wife were champion square dancers and golfers. Loyd was also an excellent shot, winning trophies for FBI shooting competitions. He loved to travel, particularly in the west. He captained many family R.V. trips to the southwest and in the Rocky Mountains. Fall color and the dramatic, natural scenery of the west were some of his favorite things. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Scalf. He is survived by his only daughter, Tonya Bienhoff and husband, John; granddaughter, Kelly King; and great-grandson, Abraham King. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at Beard's Chapel with Reverend Gary Lunsford officiating. Interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel. There is no scheduled visitation.
