Charles "Charlie" DeVon Allen

Charles "Charlie" DeVon Allen, age 74, of Bella Vista passed away in his home on September 25th, 2015. He was born November 25th, 1940 in Milo, Okla. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Mae Stone McKenzie Allen, and his father (Fred) Lyle Allen. He is survived by four sons, Sean Allen, Gabe Allen of Denver, Colo.; Jaymes Allen of Bentonville; Phillip Allen of Bella Vista, Ark. as well as two brothers, Lynn McKenzie of Bella Vista and Allen McKenzie of Healing Springs. Charles was a graduate from University High in Fayetteville. He was also a past participant in the Veterans Upward Bound Program at the University of Arkansas. Charlie was a veteran of the Fayetteville Police Department where he worked for 20 plus years. While there he received several commendations and recognitions and retired from public service in 1997. He was best known for always having a cup of coffee in his hand. Charles was also a 22 year veteran of the armed forces having served three years active duty in the Navy to go on to serve several years in the Naval Reserve, several years in the National Guard, ending with most of his years of service with the Army Reserve attached to the 362nd PsyOps Unit in Fayetteville. Most of his fondest memories were from times he spent serving his country and on drill weekends. Charlie wanted best to be remembered as one devoted to his country and his community. Graveside Memorial Services are being planned for Saturday October 3, 2015 at Farmington Cemetery at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Wounded Warrior fund.
