Richard "Rick" Kent Upshaw

Richard Kent Upshaw, 52, of Rogers passed from this life on Nov. 20, 2015. He was born Dec. 7, 1962 in Fayetteville, Ark. to Jerrell and Robbie Sharon Guthrie Upshaw. Rick's life was about helping people. From the beginning of his career as a Springdale Fireman/Paramedic to his 25+ years as a Cath Lab Technician and Specialist with Northwest Health Systems and other surrounding hospitals. Rick was always looking for ways he could enhance others' lives. He loved to live on the edge. He was extreme in everything he did, whether that was saving the life of a young gunshot victim on the streets of Springdale, being the first to use new technology in his Cath lab, finding the best trout fishing for his "Rise Up and Bite Me" Buffalo River guided tours, to just being the best jokester, co-worker, boss, friend, brother and son. What he did, he did with his whole heart. Even in his death he is giving life through organ donation. His legacy of life will continue through those he loved and mentored. Rick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Earl Upshaw; his maternal grandmother, Nita Jean Guthrie; his infant brother, Rudyard Kevin Upshaw; and his uncle, Billy Guthrie. Rick is survived by his mother and father, his siblings, Rudy Upshaw and his wife Patricia. Missha Wagoner and her husband Ray, Mark Upshaw and his wife Trish, Step-Mom Barb Upshaw, his nephews Josh Upshaw, Gunther Wagoner, Dustin and Cody Upshaw, his nieces Lauren Wagoner, Taylor Upshaw and Olivia Upshaw and his Aunt Debbie Guthrie. A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers. Please share your fond thoughts and memories of Rick on his memorial at www. WestfieldChapel.com.
