Joe Earl Overton

Joe Earl Overton 82, of West Fork, Ark. and formerly of Jacksonville, Ark. went peacefully to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 23, 2015. He was born August 25, 1932 in Vancleave, Miss. to Claude and Gladys Overton. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 53 years, Bettye; brothers, Harold and Neal; sisters, Mary, Eva and Betty. Joe is survived by a brother, Billy of Houston, Texas; a son, Joe, Jr. and his wife, Mary of West Fork, Ark.; three grandchildren, Audie Dalton and his wife, Moriah of Springdale, Ark., Christina Marie and John William, both of West Fork, Ark.; and two great-granddaughters, Aayla Blair and Aisley Lux of Springdale, Ark.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His love of fishing came from his father, growing up on the gulf coast; his love of golf from his brother, Harold. He was a graduate of Mississippi State Univ. and served honorably in the Navy and Army. He was an engineer and business owner who enjoyed entertaining friends and family at his home where many great memories were made. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church, 308 West Main St., Jacksonville, Ark.
