Lester Wayne Smith

Lester Wayne Smith 68 lifelong resident of Decatur, Ark. passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, Ark. Mr. Smith was born February 1, 1947 in Siloam Springs, Ark.; he was the son of Frank and Mabel (Shultz) Smith. He was untied in marriage to the late Linda Smith on May 28, 1966; unto this union three children were born, David, Melinda and Kimberly. Throughout his life he was a hard working and devoted husband, father and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and farming. Lester retired as a supervisor for Pre-Form Line Products in Rogers, Ark. Survivors Include: children, David & Betty Smith, Decatur, Ark., Melinda & Daniel Ramsey, Decatur, Ark., Kimberly & Rollie Welch, Anderson, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Bobby Calvert, Clayton Reynolds, Caleb & Eathen & Elijah & Mekalah Ramsey, Courtnie & Allyson Welch; two great-grandchildren: Bailey & Emily Calvert; brothers, Lloyd Smith, Gentry, Ark., Frank Smith, Pea Ridge, Ark., Wilbur Smith, Wellington, Kan. Lester is survived by several nephews and nieces, friends and loved ones and was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Linda and several brother and sisters. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest cemetery in Gravette, Ark. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Josh Ramsey under the direction of Backstrom – Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark.
