Charley Beam Jr.

Charley Beam Jr. of Fayetteville, Ark. passed away on May 7, 2015 after a brief illness. He was 87. A native of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, he enlisted in the U.S Army Air Corps in May, 1945 and served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was stationed in both Korea and Vietnam. The Beam family moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas in 1972, where Charley owned and operated a bait shop and river guide service for 30 years. He was active in the American Legion and served as Commander of Saxton-Willis Post 64 in Heber Springs In 2002, Charley and Kelly retired to Fayetteville, where they have been active in St. Josephs Catholic Church and were regular Mall Walkers at the Springdale Mall. Charley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel "Kelly" Beam, brother James Beam of Bakersfield, California, sister Jewel Penn of Melbourne, Florida, daughter Charlene Jenner (Jeff) of Long Beach, Mississippi, sons David Beam of Fayetteville and Andy (Amber) Beam of Friendswood, Texas, seven grandchildren, four great-grand children, and one great-great-grandchild.
