Arthur Carol Drake

Arthur "Runt" Drake, 81, passed away at his home in lowell on May 1. He was born on December 13, 1933 to William and Ida Lee Bishop Drake in Nolanville, Texas. Arthur rode racehorses until he was 16. He joined the marines from 1953 to 1957. He would later join the navy from 1965 to 1969. After his military career, he was a cement finisher for over 40 years in Texas and Arkansas. He was a member of the Lavaca beagle club for several years. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Weldon Drake, and one daughter, Dawn Armantrout. Survivors include his wife Tresa Drake of the home, five sons; Tony Drake of Folsom, Louisiana, Rick Magnuson and wife Julie of Springdale, James Magnuson of Springdale, Chris McCloud and wife Christi of Robinson, Texas, Shawn Stanley of Fort Hood, Texas; five daughters; Betty Carter and husband David of Springdale, Deanna Drake of Folsom, Louisiana, April Pickens and husband Stacey of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Tiffany Allen and husband Chuck of Bryant, Arkansas, and Karen Rogers of BellFlower, California; two brothers; William Drake and wife Alene of Lowell, Joe Drake and wife Bennie of Owl Creek, Texas; one sister, Martha Blair of Belton, Texas; 31 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. And several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. with military honors.
