Elbert Norvin Durham

Elbert Norvin "Bull" Durham of Fayetteville died on March 21, 2015 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. Born on April 8, 1917, in Gainesville, Missouri, Elbert is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Bethel Cunningham; his children James Durham, John Durham, Maggie Durham, and Paul Ray Cunningham; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Elbert was the valedictorian of his petroleum engineering class at Tulsa University and had a 30-year career with Shell Oil Company, eventually developing their data processing and information systems department. Elbert was also a one-time winner of the Green Weenie. After retirement, Elbert was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, organized the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department, and helped establish a bird sanctuary at Butterfield Trail Village. Elbert was a brilliant, thoughtful, and caring person who will be long remembered.
