James William Newport

James William Newport, 88, of Fayetteville, died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Fayetteville. He was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Wheeler, Ark. to Harvey and Eula Porter Newport. He was preceded in death by his parents. He retired from the Social Security Administration; served in WW II and Korea and was a member both of the Army and National Guard; and was a member of Wiggins Memorial United Methodist Church for 43 years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Easterling Newport of the home; children, Melissa Newport of Fayetteville and Bill Newport of Conway; two grandchildren, Jay and Emily Newport; a brother, Max Newport; two sisters, Berneice Hebert and Lou Thompson and husband, Charles. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Mt. Comfort Cemetery with Letitia Durham officiating under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
