Leslie Leon Garrett

Leslie Leon Garrett, of Springdale, passed on to glory, peacefully, in Springdale, Arkansas on Sunday, March 1, 2015. He was born May 8, 1927, the son of Byron J. Garrett and Lillian Drake Garrett, in Drakes Creek, Ark., where his ancestors homesteaded in 1828. Mr. Garrett served in the United States Navy. In 1969-1970, he made a decision to move back home to Northwest Arkansas. All of his children agree that was the best thing that ever happened to the Garrett's. In 1976-1977, Garrett Tire was established by Mr. Garrett and his three boys. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita June Hill of 50 years; and granddaughter, Heather Lynn Garrett. He is survived by a sister, Wilma Harris, of Beaumont, California; son, Les Garrett (Vicky) of Springdale; daughter, Kathy Emeterio (Frank) of Rogers; son, Charles Garrett (Sheila) of Springdale; son, Steven Garrett of Springdale; nine grandchildren: Dawn Garrett, Santa Monica, California; Leah Garrett, Fayetteville; Matt Emeterio, Rogers; Sam Emeterio, Rogers; Charlie Emeterio, Bentonville; Frankie Emeterio, Missouri City, Texas; Holley Garrett, Cindy Garrett, and Steve Garrett, Siloam Springs; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Drakes Creek Cemetery, with Brother Harry Hamilton officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
