Charles Max Clark

Charles Max Clark, ladies' man, gardener, grill master, loving Papa, and accomplished fisherman passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Max loved to entertain serving his legendary chicken wings made with his signature "secret sauce", however, he wasn't very good at keeping the recipe secret because he enjoyed sharing his food discoveries with everyone. He had a life-long love affair with watermelon, ice cream, tomatoes, buttermilk, and Patrick's hamburgers. He loved his mom Mildred Clark (deceased) and his dad C.R. (deceased), who raised 4 boys and 1 girl together in Rogers, Ark. He cherished time with his siblings. The eldest, Don, may have earned Max a whipping or two when they were boys. He enjoyed fixing things with his younger brother, Danny, (deceased) often when things didn't even need to be fixed. He adored his younger sister, Mary Jo Hood, who hosted their weekly gatherings with her husband, Von Hood (deceased) of Eureka Springs. His youngest brother, Johnny, was his best friend who helped foster his love of gardening, cooking, drinking wine, and enjoying retirement to the fullest. He married a beautiful barrel racer and nurse, Beverly, almost 50 years ago, with whom they had two boys, Vince, of Springdale and, Steve, of Fayetteville, married to Amy Eidson. They also had a daughter, Alisha, of Fayetteville, whom he often called "Princess", married to Erik Sutton. He taught his children to fish, bake bread, fix anything, and make people laugh. He loved to sit in his easy chair and do crosswords or flip between watching Altin Brown, Rachel Ray, or anything on Fox News. He took extreme pride in his grandchildren Brett Clark (24) of Little Rock, Maddy Sutton (18) of Como, Italy, Maddox Sutton (8), Max Clark (6), and Harry Clark (4) of Fayetteville. As a former chemical salesman for Calgon and later DuBuois, Max was thoroughly interested in politics. He was a true patriot who took great pride in his service in the U.S. Navy which he entered at the age of 16, possibly making him the youngest petty officer to have served since WWII. He also proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a metrologist, studying weights and measures and flying through storms capturing weather data. Max was always willing to help a friend or relative in need, especially if they offered to give him food. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. and the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both will be held at Rollins Funeral Home, 1401 W Hudson Rd., Rogers, Ark. 72756. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Wesley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to honor his beloved Niece, Monique Clark (47) of Rogers, Ark.
