Joan A. Clifford, 75, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away June 20, 2015 at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville. She was born July 27, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to John Ernest and Ruth McClintock Albrecht. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. and was recently awarded an Honorary Associate Degree in Arts and Letters from the Northwest Arkansas Community College. She served on the Board of Trustees at NWACC from January 2001 until December 2012. While on the board she served as secretary for two years and chair for two years. She also was an integral part of the formation of the President's Advisory Council on the Arts at NWACC. She served as board liaison for the advisory group during her time on the board and, following her board service, stayed a part of the group as a community representative. Her work with the Advisory Council has helped support students in the arts and the college-wide fine arts collection. Joan was very active in the Bentonville community. She served as assistant director of the Peel House Museum from 1992 to 2000. Other activities included service on the Liaison Committee of the Downtown Planning Group for Square Renovation; past director of Helping Hands; past president of the Bentonville Library Commission; past state president of Questers International; past president of the Bentonville Garden Club and past vice president of the Northwest Arkansas Tourism Association. She also served on the boards of the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges, the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter, and the Civic Symphony of Benton County. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville, was a Session member, moderator of the Worship Committee, a past officer of the Presbyterian Women, a member of PGO Bentonville CL Chapter and Bentonville Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Albrecht and one son, Douglas Andrew Clifford. Joan is survived by her husband, Ed Clifford; one daughter, Linne Card and husband, Philip of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, John Albrecht and wife, Ethyl of Florence, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Alexandra Card and Nickolas Card. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville with Pastor Katie Cummings officiating.
