Raymond Lee Edrington Sr., 80, of Springdale died Thursday, June 18, 2015 in Springdale. He was born Dec. 24, 1934 in DeWitt, Ark. to Silas and Beadie Merritt Edrington. Ray served in the U.S. Air Force; was a youth coordinator at many of the Methodist churches where he was a member; also spent many years as a Sunday school teacher; was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children; worked for GMC Truck Division of General Motors as a district sales manager for 25 years; and owned and operated a GM dealership for seven years. He attended Arkansas State University and Portland State University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Beadie Edrington; and eight siblings. The most important things in his life were God; his beloved wife of 60 years; his children; grandchildren; and his CASA kids. He loved going on family trips and teaching his grandchildren many things, such as the perfect way to barbecue. Survived by his wife, Shirley Shoemaker Edrington, of the home; children, Lee Edrington and wife, Gay of Fayetteville; Beth Edrington McEver and husband, Rob of Fayetteville; and Susan Edrington of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Trey and Elise Edrington of Fayetteville; Elizabeth Edrington of Portland, Ore.; Drew, Matt and Billy McEver, of Fayetteville; and Kailee Henry of Fayetteville. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Jody Farrell officiating. Private interment will take place at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until service-time at the church.
