Diane Mack Fair passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Morris, who was the love of her life, as well as by her mother and father, Dorothy and Donald Mack. She is survived by her devoted sons: Ronnie (Sharon) of Heber Springs, Ark., Greg (Stephany) of Memphis, Tenn., Lance (Karen) of Orlando, Fla., and Jason (Meredith) of Memphis, Tenn. She also leaves her grandchildren: Nicholas, Jacob, Lucas, Lauren, Courtney, Fletcher, Judson, Brooke, and Hunter, as well as Sarah Jo Bridges, who all dearly loved their "Mama Di." Diane was born on June 17, 1932 in Paragould, Ark. In her youth, Diane performed at Detroit's Broadway Capital Theatre. As a teenager, her exceptional beauty and charm led her to the Memphis Cotton Carnival where she was crowned the Apple Blossom Queen. Upon graduation from high school, she attended MSCW Girls College in Mississippi and then transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She worked for a summer in Washington D.C. for Took Gathings, a US representative from Arkansas. While attending the University of Arkansas, Diane was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and was a Razorback Beauty. She met Morris in her Junior year and they married in 1954. Diane's life was all about her family. Since she was an only child, she often commented that Morris made a family for her. She and Morris lived in West Memphis, Ark. for much of their married life where they raised their four sons. Diane was involved in the local Junior Auxiliary, the PTA, and was an active member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. They cultivated many close friendships there over the years. In 1977, they purchased a lake house on Eden Isle, Ark. where they would go on to spend many, many wonderful times with friends and family. Morris was fond of saying he had "Heber Fever". Diane and Morris moved to Memphis, Tenn. in 1983 to begin another chapter of their lives. Diane was an accomplished tennis player and enjoyed playing at the Memphis Racquet Club for many years. She was also an avid Jackie Sorenson devotee and taught "Jazzercise" at many places around Memphis. Her love for tap dancing defined her, and she loved performing with Bill Westbrook's "Steppin' out Dancers." Diane will be remembered for her devotion to her family, for her infectious laugh, and for her very kind heart. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar, Memphis, Tenn. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, Ark. The family wishes to thank Diane's devoted caregivers over the past several years: Carolyn, Lorice, Sandra, and (posthumously) Lorene. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, West Memphis, Ark. or a charity of your choice.
