Donald J. Semelsberger Jr. of Harrison, Ark., passed away in Seville, Spain, on May 30th. He is survived by his brother, Ronald, who has retired to the Phillipines, and his sister, Elizabeth (Matthews), who lives with her husband in Fresno, Calif., and his stepdaughter, Helen Williamson, who lives in Oakland, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. Semelsberger Sr., and Beatrice (Bartlett), as well as by his wife of 31 years, Camilla. Don was born in Spangler, Pa., in 1947, graduated from Lompoc High School in Lompoc, Calif. in 1966, and served in the United States Air Force. After his tour in Vietnam, he came home, and fell in love with Camilla, whom he married in 1975 in Lompoc, Calif. Don finished his B.A. and earned a teaching credential from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. in 1976. The family moved to Fayetteville, Ark., in 1977, and later purchased the Red Raven Inn in Yellville, Ark., which Don and Cam ran for many years and where they resided together until her death in July, 2006. Don loved traveling, walking with his walking buddies, fishing with his friends, and loved playing golf and being a caddy for his nephew, Jason Semelsberger, in major tournaments. He will be missed by loving and caring relatives and friends. A gathering for friends and family will be held at the Townhouse in Yellville (108 Mill Street) on Saturday, June 27th, from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in his memory to the Don & Cam Semelsberger Memorial Scholarship Fund by sending a check to the Marion County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1147, Yellville, Ark., 72687. Please put Don's name in the memo line of the check.
