Carl Daymond Treat

Carl Daymond Treat, 87, of Rogers, Ark., passed away on June 12, 2015 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Dec. 2, 1927 in Big Flat, Ark., the son of A.R. Treat and Ethel Treat. He married Betty Jean Balentine, the love of his life on September 8, 1945. Shortly thereafter he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Occupational Forces of Japan. Returning from World War II, he worked for several years in the stave mill business with his father and brothers. He then moved to Wichita, Kan. and worked for Beach Aircraft Company for five years. They moved to Springdale, Ark. in 1956 to work for Willis Shaw Frozen Express. He worked for Willis 20 years and had a distinguished career as a professional truck driver. The highlight of his career was when he won the Arkansas Truck Rodeo in 1967, 1968, and 1969, culminating in Carl being honored as the Arkansas Driver of the Year in 1969. In 1972, Carl became the first truck driver instructor at the Northwest Arkansas Votech School in Springdale, Ark. He retired in 1990 to his present home in Rogers, Ark. Carl and Betty spent many wonderful years traveling throughout the United States. He was a huge NASCAR fan and loved his St. Louis Cardinals and Razorbacks. He also traveled the Midwest with Betty to attend numerous Blue Grass Festivals where they made many lifelong friends. He leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Balentine Treat; son, Carlos Treat; brothers Cecil Treat and his wife Chlorene, Alfred Treat and his wife Rebecca, Charles Treat and his wife Kathryn; a sister, Zetauh Richardson; grandchildren Brian Treat and Stacy Avery; great grandchildren Ashley, Simon, Wyatt, Aubrey, Blakely and Maya; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. A special thanks from the Treat family to Legacy Village Circle of Life doctors, nurses, and employees for their compassionate care during this difficult time. Visitation will be at 10 to 12 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark. Graveside services will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery, at 2 p.m., June 16, 2015 with full military honors.
