John Patrick Brosnan died peacefully on June 3, 2015, at the age of 90, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. John was born June 7, 1924 in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, Ireland to Thomas and Anne (Glennon) Brosnan and later lived in Tuam, Co Galway. He left Ireland in 1949 for Toronto, Canada, where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Alice (Samler) on November 18, 1950. John was employed by Otis Elevator, a construction company building the Bank of Nova Scotia Building in Toronto, Gear Paper Company, Orenda Engines and served as a police officer for the city of Toronto until 1960, when the family moved to St. Clair Shores, Michigan, where he bought and managed an auto wash. In 1976, John and Alice with their youngest daughter moved to Glendalough, Ireland. In 1986 they moved to Pinckney, Michigan, then in 2003 to Bella Vista, Arkansas. John was a devoted Catholic and family man. He had many interests including music, radio control model air craft and antique clock repair. John is survived by his beloved wife Alice, their son Shawn (Lori) Brosnan of Canton, Mich., and daughters Terry (Kris) Peterson of Coon Rapids, Minn., Anna (Dan) McDonald of S. Lyon, Mich., Kathy (Jim) Miller of Bella Vista, Ark. and Patti (Denis) Byrne of Wicklow, Ireland; four sisters, Attracta Brosnan of Ireland, Dorothy Harte of England, Eva (Paddy) Brennan of Ireland, and Mary O'Conner of Ireland; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 3305 S.W. I Street, Bentonville, Ark. 72712. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bella Vista Funeral Home.
