James A. Howell, 86, passed away on July 17, 2015 in Springdale. He was born on Aug. 30, 1928 to the late James V. and Thelma (Wilhelm) Howell. He was the husband of the late Anna Christine (Gottsch) Howell. James served with the US Army from 1950-1952, during the Korean War. He retired from Southwest Bell Telephone after many years, and then went to work for Burtons Welding. Jim loved fishing, camping, playing bluegrass music, and gardening, but most of all having good times with family and friends, and drawing close to God. James is survived by his children, Teresa Crihfield, Janet Lea Thomas Smith, and Gilbert J. Howell; four grandchildren, Gysha Oxford of Westfork, Shylina Hidrogo of Rogers, Shane Crihfield of Bethel Heights, Jeremy Thomas of Midland, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Joel Hidrogo, Nick Hidrogo, and Shaeydon Lillig. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at McAulley Hall, in the former St. Mary's Hospital, 1200 W. Walnut Rd, Rogers, Parking lot #2. Arrangements under the care of Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers.
