Narnee Crittenden Murphy

Narnee Crittenden Murphy, age 93, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 following a long illness at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab in Rogers. She was born September 11, 1921 in Crossett, Arkansas, the daughter of James J. and Vassie Crittenden. She spent most of her life in Fayetteville, graduating from Fayetteville High School and going on to earn a B.S. with honors and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. She was later a member of the faculty at the U of A business school. She was interested in community and civic affairs including serving on the Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library and leading the "Sidewalks for Safety" campaign to install sidewalks on busy roads near several local elementary schools. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and served on many committees and various ministries. She was a member of P.E.O. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Murphy in 1992 and is survived by a son, R. Blake Murphy and his wife Joanne of Huntington, N.Y., her grandchildren, Lianna Murphy of New York, N.Y. and Grant Murphy of Huntington, N.Y.; and a sister-in-law: Jean Murphy Williams of Ft. Smith. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday July 25 at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Jack A. Wilson.
