Bernard "Bernie" Suding, age 73, passed away peacefully at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., on July 2, 2015. Bernie leaves behind his partner of 9 years, Shirley Hogg from Bella Vista, Ark., his adopted family, David and Ashley Vann, their children, Garrett, Gavin, and Gillian of Bentonville, Ark., Jay and Sheila Hogg, their children Ashlynn and Alyssa of Shawnee, Kansas. He is survived by his brother Carl Suding and his wife Linda of Grand Haven, Mich., his sister Donna Hammonds of Oak Lawn, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. Bernie was born Feb. 14, 1942 to Carl Henry and Sylvia Suding in Indianapolis, Ind. The family moved to Oak Lawn, Ill. when the children were young. Bernie was educated at Brother Rice Catholic High School in Chicago, Ill. He attended college at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill. He moved to Southern California and worked in the nursery business for over 30 years. Bernie retired from Bordier's Nursery and moved to Bella Vista. Bernie enjoyed the outdoors; playing golf, boating, and fishing. He found great joy in teaching the children in his life how to fish, water ski, and sail. He loved working in his shop, making furniture, as well as rocking horses, dollhouses, and miniature derby racers for nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. We will be celebrating Bernie's life on July 22, 2015 at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., a reception will follow at 94 Kincardine Drive, Bella Vista. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark.
