Ava Loraine Swafford

After enjoying a life living in Arkansas for the past 92 years, Ava Loraine Swafford passed away on January 12, 2015. Ava, known to close friends and family as Avo, was born May 22, 1922 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Elmer and Bess Williamson and she had two sisters, Essie Parker and Juanita Terry. In 1938 she married Vilas Swafford and they had one son, Thurlon "Dutch" Swafford who now resides in North Carolina. Ava had a lively spirit that enjoyed a challenge such as long cross country drives. Imagine the surprise when their son found that they had decided to drive from Arkansas to Alaska for a visit. In addition, Ava was a great cook, an extraordinary seamstress and loved boating and skiing on the lakes of Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, both sisters and her husband. She is survived by her son and his wife, three grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends and other relatives. Ava will be laid to rest January 19th in Lincoln Cemetery beside her beloved husband whom she will join in their favorite lakeside campsite. Burial will be under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In lieu of a service, family and friends may visit her gravesite and pay their respects; however being a person who appreciated the simple things, she would rather you enjoy a nice lakeside sunset.
