Jonathan Forbes Thomas, age 53, of Winslow and formerly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord, January 13, 2015. Jon was born September 15, 1961 at Searcy, Arkansas, to Loyd and Shirley Thomas. He had participated in the Elizabeth Richardson Center programs of Fayetteville and Springdale since 1967. He was a member of West Ridge Free Will Baptist Church where his father pastored for many years and where Jon added his own unique ministry through his funny personality and his participation in music. In his first six years Jon was a part of Mt. Bethel FWB Church at Rose Bud, Arkansas, and First Free Will Baptist Church of Conway, Arkansas. During the last two years of his life, in addition to West Ridge FWB Church, he added to his ministry by attending Friendship FWB Church at Rose Bud, Arkansas every other week. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joshua Thomas and his grandparents, John and Lula Thomas and Roy and Dora Forbes. Survivors include his parents; four sisters, Lori Tillery and husband Bruce of Fayetteville; Cyndi Thomas of Fayetteville; Melody Thomas of Bent, Oregon; Megan Morgan and husband Chris of Fayetteville; three brothers, Jeff Thomas and wife Susan of Valencia, California; Isaac Thomas of Norfolk, Virginia; Stephen Thomas of Fayetteville; and a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jon Thomas never met a stranger, and people always said, "If Jon's not in heaven, nobody will be!" Everyone always remembers his singing of "How Great Thou Art." Our beloved Jon-Jon will be missed. Visitation will be 1 p.m.- 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday January 16, 2015 at West Ridge Free Will Baptist Church in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Officiating will be Pastor Larry Little, assisted by Ken Bailey. Visitation will be 1 p.m.- 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday January 17, 2015 at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church in Rose Bud, Arkansas. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Morrison. Burial will follow at Crossroads South Cemetery, under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.
