Richard George Skinner, 49, passed away Jan. 5, 2015, due to natural causes. Richard was born in Columbia, Mo., to Elizabeth and George Skinner. He moved to Fayetteville, Ark., with his family when he was 4 years old and remained there his entire life. Richard graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1983. At an early age his natural born rhythm and talent as a drummer was evident and as a result he attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, on a full scholarship as the first chair drummer in the Arkansas All-state Band. There he was a member of the Razorback Marching Band and an avid Razorback fan. He especially loved the Baseball Hogs. Richard had a love of music and was the percussionist in several local bands over the years. He married Stephne Glaub in 2010, with whom he shared a love for the Chicago Cubs. Richard loved his family dearly and considered his father, George Skinner, his best friend. He will be missed by his family and friends. Although he struggled with his addiction to alcohol, he was kind and had a loving heart and was a loyal friend to so many. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Stephne Skinner; and his infant brother, Stephen Paul. He is survived by his four sisters, Sara (David) Lenehan, Little Rock, Anne Skinner, Fayetteville, Laura (Ken) Cook, Little Rock, and Molly Fast, Kansas City; and nieces and nephews, Emily, John, Meagan and Michael Lenehan, Andrew Hall, Caroline Holt, Sarah Catherine Cook and Veronica Fast. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating Richard's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Drive, Fayetteville, Ark. The family is grateful for the loving care and support Richard received from his church family at St. Joseph Catholic Church, including the faithful ministry and friendship extended to Richard by member Paul Warren and from the AA support groups and sponsors who loved and cared for him.
