Lillian Carmody

Lillian Carmody of Bella Vista, Ark., died peacefully and in her home on Jan. 4, 2015, at age 97. Lillian was born in Fremont, Neb., one of four children of Thomas and Marie Richardson. She lived in Fremont until her marriage to Emmett Carmody in 1936, at which time they moved to Omaha, Neb. Lillian and Emmet retired to Bella Vista in 1978, where Emmett was an avid golfer and Lillian became a longtime member of the Village Art Club. She became vice president of the Village Art Club and director of their Art Gallery for one year. She also served as vice president of the Village Garden Club for one year. Lillian was an accomplished artist and was still painting custom greeting cards until her death. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings and her husband of 56 years. Lillian is survived by her two children, Michael Carmody (Mary) of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Patricia Baggenstoss of Bella Vista; her brother, Richard Richardson (Betty) of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bernard Church in Bella Vista, Ark. No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project, the Bella Vista Animal Shelter or to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
